Good preparation starts with knowing what a source provides. Church guidance explains the prayer’s purpose and requirements; diocesan pages may provide local examples; publishers offer their own preparation material under their own terms. The links below are external resources, not endorsements of Universal Prayers or permission to reproduce another site’s content.
Begin with GIRM 69–71
The General Instruction of the Roman Missal describes the communal purpose, ordinary sequence, brevity, and ministerial roles of the Universal Prayer. These paragraphs are the starting point for the original examples on this site.
Diocesan examples and regional context
The Diocese of Meath publishes dated Prayers of the Faithful, while Auckland’s Liturgy Centre provides local liturgical formation and resources. Their calendars, language, and pastoral circumstances may differ from your parish’s.
Publisher resources are distinct
FAITH Catholic offers Daily Universal Prayer and Commentary. Redemptorist Publications is a separate publisher to consult when looking for its bidding-prayer and liturgy resources. Check current offerings and reproduction terms directly; these are not Universal Prayers products.
