Prayers of the Faithful for Holy Week
Holy Week contains celebrations with distinct structures. An ordinary intercession set cannot simply be relabeled for each day. Choose the liturgy being prepared, use its proper readings and texts, and keep the wider shape of the celebration in view. Good Friday especially needs the prescribed Solemn Intercessions rather than the site’s usual six-petition format.
Holy Thursday
The Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper begins the Triduum. Its original intercessions can include ministry and service within prayer for the whole world. It should not be confused with the Chrism Mass.
Good Friday
The Celebration of the Lord’s Passion uses the Solemn Intercessions in the Roman Missal. Follow the approved text and any directions from the diocesan bishop. Do not generate a replacement set of ordinary petitions.
The Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday
The Vigil includes particular baptismal and initiation arrangements. Easter Sunday Mass is a distinct celebration. Choose the correct page and verify that every reference to participants or rites is true of the liturgy being prepared.
Prepare the right celebration
Prepared with GIRM 69–71 as the guiding standard: brief, sober intentions for the Church, the world, people in difficulty, and the local community, with an introduction and conclusion for the priest. These original examples may be adapted for the celebration and reviewed by the celebrant.

Can I use six ordinary petitions on Good Friday?
No. The Celebration of the Lord’s Passion has its prescribed Solemn Intercessions. Use the dedicated guidance and approved liturgical texts.
