Should all the deceased be named aloud?
Follow the parish’s arrangements. One petition can refer to names recorded in a book or list without making the intention too long to follow.
Is All Souls’ Day the same as All Saints’ Day?
No. All Souls’ Day is focused on prayer for the faithful departed. Do not use wording that assumes every deceased person has already reached heavenly glory.
Can we pray for people we never knew?
Yes. The Church’s prayer includes all the faithful departed, including those without relatives or friends to remember them.
