Is January 1 simply a New Year Mass?
In the Roman calendar it is the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God. New Year concerns may be included, but they should respect the day’s actual liturgical celebration.
Can these be used at a parish New Year gathering on another date?
They can provide a starting point. Confirm the celebration and readings for that date, then adapt the introduction rather than assuming January 1 texts apply.
Should we list our resolutions in the intentions?
No. A simple request for wisdom, peace, or strength gives the whole congregation a shared prayer without turning the petitions into a list of personal goals.
