Prayers of the Faithful for Special Occasions
A special occasion gives the Universal Prayer a local focus, while the wider needs of the Church and the world remain present. Choose the kind of celebration before editing names or dates. A birthday, a marriage anniversary, and an anniversary of a death call for different prayers, even when a search simply says “anniversary Mass.”
Keep the occasion in proportion
One or two focused intentions usually make a set personal. The remaining petitions can continue to pray for public life, people suffering, the dead, and the local community. A tribute, list of achievements, or announcement belongs elsewhere.
Check whether you are preparing Mass or another rite
A house blessing, religious profession, and a retreat prayer gathering are not interchangeable with an ordinary Mass. The matching pages explain where their original examples fit and when the approved ritual texts are required.

Can I combine two occasions in one set?
Yes, if the combination reflects the actual celebration. Use one short petition for each main need and keep the total brief rather than joining two complete sets.
Does a civil observance determine the Mass?
No. The priest should confirm the proper celebration and readings. A civil concern may inform a petition without replacing the liturgical day.
